The San Diego Chapter of the Association for Women in Science (AWIS) offers scholarships to community college, undergraduate, and graduate women in San Diego County who are in pursuit of a degree in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Each recipient will receive a $1000 scholarship award and will be honored at the 2010 Scholarship Gala in the spring.

Eligibility: Female students actively engaged in a degree program in the 2009-2010 academic year may apply. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Applicants must be affiliated with an institute of higher learning in San Diego County.

The award can be used for educational expenses including tuition, books, housing, research, etc.

Application Deadline: February 19, 2010.

The AWIS Career Development Award

Congratulations to our 2009 Career Development Award winners!

The San Diego Chapter of AWIS is pleased to sponsor the career development award.  These $1000 awards are designed to assist AWIS members who need additional training or coursework to help them successfully transition into a new field within the science and technology workplace.

These awards are intended for current AWIS San Diego chapter members who are beginning or transitioning within their careers or are re-entering the work force.  Gross yearly salary cannot exceed $60,000.  Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.  Full time students are not eligible.   Award money can be used for any aspect of continuing education:  courses or training seminars and can be applied toward tuition, registration fees or books.

Applications for the 2010 Career Development Award will be posted next spring. Please check back then.
